Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the inaugural ceremony of Semicon India 2026, highlighted India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and said that confidence in India is rising across the world. The Prime Minister said India is moving rapidly on the path of development, with chips manufactured in the country now reaching global markets. He also emphasised that India has a strong pool of engineering talent, which is playing an important role in strengthening the country’s technology and semiconductor capabilities. Highlighting the progress under the India Semiconductor Mission, Modi said its second phase has already begun and that 12 projects have so far received approval. He said these developments reflect India’s expanding role in the global semiconductor industry. The Prime Minister also spoke about the opportunities and challenges emerging with the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence. He noted that AI has raised several new questions for the world, while stressing that India is prepared to face the challenges ahead and continue building a strong technology ecosystem.
