Prominent education reformer and activist Sonam Wangchuk has described Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation amid the NEET controversy as a “victory for Democracy.” In a statement issued on Saturday, Wangchuk said the development was not just a political change, but a win for “peace, patience, and relentless efforts” by students and citizens across the country. He extended his congratulations to the CJP – Citizens for Justice and Peace and to Gen Z of the country, calling their voice and unity the driving force behind the movement. Wangchuk also thanked all citizens who stood up against injustice. “Give up fear, and the fear of fear,” he said, urging people to stay fearless in demanding accountability from those in power. He further appealed to people from every corner of the country to “wake up and make an effort” to protect democratic values, transparency, and the rights of students. The resignation came after weeks of nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination, with students demanding responsibility and reforms in the examination system.
