Odisha Rice Millers to begin Indefinite Strike from June 8 over unfulfilled Govt Promises
The Rice Millers of Odisha, under the banner of the All Odisha Rice Millers Association (AORMA), have been compelled to resort to an indefinite strike with effect from 08.06.2026 due to the continued non-fulfilment of long-pending commitments and unresolved operational issues despite repeated representations and assurances from the Government.

During the period of strike, the member rice mills across the State shall not lift paddy from any Mandi/Purchase Centre and not deliver Custom Milled Rice (CMR) to any RRC, FCI Depot.

AORMA President, Mahesh Kumar Bansal said that the Association has extended full cooperation to the Government over the years and has exercised utmost patience in the larger interest of farmers and the Public Distribution System.

However, the persistent neglect of genuine and agreed demands has left the rice milling industry with no viable alternative, he stated.

The strike shall continue until the committed demands are fulfilled and a concrete resolution is reached by the Government.

The Association remains open to constructive dialogue and hopes that the Government will take immediate steps to address the issues and restore normal operations in the interest of all stakeholders.
