Nithari Case Accused Surendra Koli Dies by Suicide in Haridwar

Surendra Koli, who was acquitted by the Supreme Court in 2025 in connection with the 2006 Nithari serial killings case, has died by suicide in Haridwar, police said.

According to Haridwar Police, Koli’s body was found hanging from a rope inside a tea stall opposite Lalmata Temple on Sapt Sarovar Road in the Bhupatwala area. He had reportedly been working as a tea seller in Haridwar for the past few days.

The Nithari killings came to light in December 2006 after skeletal remains were discovered near the residence of businessman Moninder Singh Pandher in Noida’s Sector 31. Koli, who had worked as a domestic helper at Pandher’s residence, was accused in connection with multiple cases involving murder, abduction, rape and destruction of evidence.

The Supreme Court acquitted Koli in the case in 2025, bringing a major legal turn to the long-running Nithari case. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
