Self-styled influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the assault of a man during a protest at Jantar Mantar in June. Bhardwaj, was sent to one-day police custody on Saturday. The case related to an incident on June 23, when Sanjay Azad had gone to the protest with his daughter. He sustained a head injury during a confrontation involving Bhardwaj and others. Security has been tightened at the Parliament Street Police Station following the arrest of accused Swatantra Bhardwaj in connection with the alleged deadly attack on Sanjay Azad, the father of a minor CJP worker. Following the arrest, the accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Stringent provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also reportedly been added to the earlier FIR.
