Compensation Plea Filed in Orissa High Court Over MV Ocean Winner Sinking

A compensation plea was filed on Tuesday before the Orissa High Court in connection with the sinking of the cargo vessel MV Ocean Winner off the Odisha coast.

OCL Iron & Steel Limited, the affected company, has approached the High Court seeking initiation of international commercial arbitration for compensation towards losses arising from the incident.

The MV Ocean Winner sank on August 22, around 240 nautical miles from Paradip Port. The vessel was reportedly carrying cargo when it sank in the sea.

Of the 24 crew members on board, only two were rescued. The whereabouts of the remaining 22 crew members are still unknown, raising concerns over their safety.

The company has sought legal intervention for resolution of the matter and compensation for the losses suffered following the sinking of the vessel.
