CWG 2026: Asmita Dey Harsh Singh strike historic Gold for India in Judo
Indian judokas Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh scripted history on Friday, becoming the first-ever Indian judokas to win a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
 
In a thrilling final, Asmita defeated Canada’s Heidi Kwac 2-1 in the 48kg weight category to secure the top spot on the podium. With this win, she became the first Indian judoka to win a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
 
India added another Gold in Judo as Harsh Singh dominated the 60kg weight category. Harsh delivered a commanding performance, defeating Australia’s Joshua Kaz 10-0 in the final to claim the Gold medal. This is India’s second Gold in Judo at the ongoing games.
 
With these two Gold medals in Judo, India’s total tally now stands at 19 medals, including 5 Golds at Commonwealth Games 2026.
