Peaceful 'Chalo Sansad' Protest turns ugly, more than 50 cops injured
What began as a peaceful demonstration escalated into chaos on Monday as the ‘Chalo Sansad’ protest turned violent near Parliament, leaving around 50 police personnel injured.

Thousands of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protestors had gathered under the ‘Chalo Sansad’ banner to march towards Parliament and press their demands.

Police said some demonstrators started pelting stones and vandalizing barricades, forcing security personnel to use water cannons and lathi-charge to control the crowd.

Officials confirmed that nearly 50 police officers sustained injuries during the clashes. Several of them were taken to hospital for treatment. A number of protestors were also detained, and multiple vehicles were damaged.

Senior police officials said additional forces were deployed to bring the situation under control and traffic was diverted in central Delhi for several hours.

The protest organizers have condemned the violence and alleged that police used “excessive force” against peaceful demonstrators. Meanwhile, police have stated that legal action will be taken against those involved in attacking security personnel and damaging public property.
