India has granted approval to ‘QDENGA’, the country’s first dengue vaccine, marking a major step in the fight against dengue fever. The vaccine can be given to individuals between 4 to 60 years of age. There is no requirement to check whether a person has had dengue before to receive the vaccine. It is a two-dose vaccine. The second dose will be administered 3 months after the first dose. QDENGA has already been approved in 43 countries across the world. More than 32 million doses of QDENGA have been administered globally so far. The vaccine has been developed by Takeda Biopharmaceuticals.
