Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Hooghly district on Saturday, marked a significant day for farmers and infrastructure development in West Bengal. Participating in the Paschimbanga Divas (West Bengal Day) celebrations at Tarakeswar, the Prime Minister addressed a large public gathering attended by West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari, Ministers, MLAs, Government officials, and citizens. PM Modi released the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring ₹18,880 crore directly into the accounts of more than 9.44 crore farmers across the country. The Prime Minister launched the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in West Bengal, extending crop insurance benefits to farmers in the State. PM Modi also dedicated and laid the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects including Sankrail–Santragachi Link Line Project in Howrah district, enhancing railway connectivity, new Divisional Railway Hospital with 300 beds at Howrah and Road Over Bridge between Howrah and Radhamohanpur in Purba Medinipur district.
