Odisha Government has decided to bring electric vehicles (EVs) on hire for official use and has fixed the monthly rental rates. The government has set the maximum hiring limit for EVs between ₹55,000 and ₹80,000 per month, depending on the vehicle category and level of deployment. However, at the block and tahasil level, the monthly rent has been set at ₹55,000 per vehicle. The Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) has been tasked with arranging up to 300 electric vehicles on hire for use by various government departments. Hiring electric vehicles for official government work will be compulsory starting June 1. The move is aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting the adoption of EVs in line with the state’s Electric Vehicle Policy.
