In a major political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party has registered emphatic wins in West Bengal and Assam, while actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam made a strong debut in Tamil Nadu. The BJP has posted a dominant performance in West Bengal while leading on 194 seats out of total 294 seats and dealing a setback to the All India Trinamool Congress which leads on 93 seats. Assam stayed firmly with the BJP-led NDA. The ruling alliance retained its majority with an even bigger margin, driven by welfare delivery and infrastructure push while Bharatiya Janata Party (79)-led alliance leads in 97 seats out of total 126 seats. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, launched by actor Vijay, made a stunning electoral debut. TVK is leading in 110 seats across Tamil Nadu, shifting the vote share of both DMK and AIADMK. In a major boost to the Congress, the Indian National Congress (INC), has taken a clear lead in Kerala, racing ahead in 55 of the 140 assembly seats, while Congress led United Democratic Front (UDF) is leading on 97 seats.
