Gallantry medal awardees from the Army, Navy and Air Force (Sena Medal, Nau Sena Medal and Vayu Sena Medal) will be eligible for lifetime free train travel, according to the information from the Ministry of Defence. The facility will also be available to the parents of unmarried personnel who were killed in service. Eligible beneficiaries will be able to travel in First Class, AC 2-Tier and AC Chair Car under the provision. They can apply through the IRCCP portal https://irccp.indianrail.gov.in/IRCCP, following which an e-pass for railway travel will be issued online. The facility is scheduled to come into effect from November 1. The move is aimed at recognising the service and sacrifice of armed forces personnel who have been awarded gallantry medals.
