The death toll from the massive flash floods in Nepal has risen to 270, while more than 1,300 people remain missing, including 288 Indian nationals. The flash floods that struck Nepal yesterday wreaked havoc across three districts, causing widespread destruction and leaving thousands of people missing. Nepal Police said 93 more bodies were recovered today, taking the overall death toll to 270. Among the missing Indians, 73 are reportedly working at the Trishuli Power Project in Nepal. In addition, two groups from Tamil Nadu, comprising 37 and 39 people have not been contacted so far. Another 61 Indians from other States are missing. Meanwhile, 21 people from Tamil Nadu have been rescued, according to reports. Nepal Police spokesperson Kafle said that more than 800 stranded people, including those injured, have so far been rescued from the affected areas. Rescue and search operations are continuing on a large scale as authorities work to locate those still missing and provide assistance to survivors.
