Keralites Across the Globe Celebrate Onam Today
The festival of Onam 2026, also known as the harvest festival, is the biggest occasion of joy and gratitude for people in Kerala.

The vibrant colours of Onam were in full bloom across Kerala on Wednesday with people celebrating the auspicious Thiruvonam, the culmination of the state’s 10-day Onam festivities, with family gatherings and reunions that brought together generations.

The 10-day festival falls in the Malayalam month of Chingam, usually between August and September, and is closely associated with the annual homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali, a generous ruler whose reign is remembered as a time of prosperity and equality.

Onam celebrations begin with Atham and culminate with Thiruvonam. Each of the 10 days has its own customs and significance.
