Ganjam district police have imposed restrictions under Section 30 of the Odisha Police Act, 1961, for a period of 90 days to maintain public order and ensure the smooth conduct of public activities.

The restrictions will remain in force from August 16 to November 13, covering a total period of 90 days. During this period, prior permission from the police will be mandatory for organising meetings, public gatherings, processions and similar programmes in the district.

As per the directive issued by the Ganjam Superintendent of Police following a decision by the Ganjam District Collector, organisers must apply for permission at least 72 hours before the scheduled event.

The application must include details such as the venue, date and time, purpose of the programme, procession route, expected number of participants and details of vehicles involved.

Permission for such programmes will have to be obtained from the concerned SDPO or police station officer.

The district police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against those found violating the restrictions or organising programmes without the required permission.

The police have also appealed to political parties, social organisations and the general public to cooperate with the authorities and comply with the prescribed guidelines to maintain peace and public order in the district.
