The Trinamool Congress crisis worsened on Monday after 20 of its Lok Sabha MPs, including senior TMC leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressing support for the BJP-led NDA. The move has triggered a split in the party’s parliamentary unit. Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghosh said they have written to Lok Sabha Speaker, seeking a separate seating arrangement for them in Parliament following the party’s split. The letter comes as a major blow to Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, just months after the TMC’s poor performance in the Assembly polls. TMC currently holds 28 Lok Sabha seats.
