In a major move affecting millions of households, the Central Government has slashed the number of subsidised LPG cylinders under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). From now on, Ujjwala beneficiaries will get subsidy on only 4 cylinders per year instead of 9 cylinders earlier. The Government cited rising international fuel prices as the reason behind the decision.
