Odisha Hikes Morning Snack Allowance for Underweight Children from Rs 8 to Rs 12
Odisha Government has increased the supplementary nutrition allowance for underweight children as part of its intensified fight against malnutrition.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that the daily allowance for morning snacks for underweight children has been raised from Rs 8 to Rs 12.

With an additional Rs 6 provided under the Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana, each underweight child will now receive nutrition support worth Rs 18 per day.

There are around 35,000 children in the state who are classified as ‘severely underweight’. The government will bear Rs 126 crore 83 lakh for this.

A digital booklet focused on nutrition during a child’s first 1,000 days was also unveiled. These steps will help make Odisha malnutrition-free by 2036, the Deputy CM said.
