Baranga Police ‘Third-Degree’ Case: New twist emerges over Custody and Accident claims
A new twist has surfaced in the ‘third-degree’ torture case at Baranga Police Station, raising questions about the timeline of events and police claims.

Amid allegations of custodial torture, an “accident” angle has now emerged. Records mention that Rakesh Behera was injured after falling from a bike on May 23. He was admitted to ‘Med Ex’ Hospital on the night of May 24 and shifted to SCB Medical College, Cuttack on May 25.

However, reports state Rakesh had been in Baranga Police Station custody since May 22. This has triggered key questions that if he was under police detention, how did he travel on a bike late at night? Who was he with, and under what circumstances?

The gap in the timeline has led to suspicion that an “accident script” have been created to hide signs of third-degree torture.

Further doubts have been raised as the accident occurred on May 23, but the FIR was registered only on May 26. No response has been received from the police officials concerned so far.
