The Election Commission of India on Friday announced elections to 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states, as well as by-elections to one seat each in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu with polling scheduled for June 18. Counting of votes will be held the same day from 5 pm. The seats will fall vacant in June and July 2026 upon completion of the term of the incumbents. Notable retiring members include Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former PM H D Deve Gowda from Karnataka, and former MP CM Digvijay Singh from Madhya Pradesh. Notification on June 1. Last date for filing nominations is June 8. Scrutiny on June 9. Last date for withdrawal is June 11.
