Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) successfully defended their title at the Narendra Modi Stadium, beating Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets to clinch their second straight IPL Championship. RCB became only the third team in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to defend the title successfully. Winning the toss, RCB Captain Rajat Patidar elected to bowl first. Batting first, Gujarat Titans posted 155 on the board in 20 overs. For RCB, Rasikh Salam took 3 wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood picked up 2 wickets each. RCB in response chased down the total in 18 overs and won the match by chasing 156 in five wickets. Virat Kohli played an instrumental role in helping RCB win both the titles with brilliant 75 runs in 42 balls. Kohli received the Man of the Match award. With this victory, Rajat Patidar’s team lifted their second IPL trophy after defeating Gujarat. Patidar also became the third captain to win consecutive IPL titles. Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi won the Orange Cap with 776 runs, while Kagiso Rabada took the Purple Cap with 29 wickets.
