Punjab is set to host the 2026 edition of the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy from October 27 to November 5 in Mohali, marking the first time the state will host an international hockey tournament. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the development on Monday. The tournament will be played at two venues — the Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium in Mohali and the Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar. The prestigious tournament will feature some of Asia’s top hockey teams, including defending champions India, Pakistan, South Korea, Malaysia, China and Japan. Oman and Bangladesh have been named as reserve teams. The event is expected to provide a major boost to hockey in Punjab, a state with a rich tradition and strong sporting culture.
